Just when you think you'll never hear from certain members of certain bands again, along comes this three-piece formed from the remnants (Martin Kelly, Anton Hegarty, Paddy Moran) of much-admired Dublin outfits Sunbear, Future Kings of Spain and Ruby Tailights. It's a tricky proposition for new acts consisting of (relatively) old hands to make a splash all over again, but Tin Charm just about pull it off with with a sequence of songs that riff and rock'n'roll with the best of them. Blending hints of frantic post-rock with slo-mo reveries and quite possibly illegal basslines, songs such as Maybe I'm Gone, Live Your Days in Dreams and K-X=U demonstrate the value and necessity of experience. From cochlea-rattling noise to quiet-loud-quiet dynamics, The Engine Is Bleeding rethinks, revitalises and reconditions. tincharm.bandcamp.com
