It’s the last bank holiday weekend of the summer, and although there’s still one big festival yet to happen, the summer festival season will wind down over the next few days. In Cork, the Indiependence festival kicks off today in Mitchelstown, with Editors, Ash, Therapy? and more.

Tullamore’s Castlepalooza festival also begins today. Rap group Naughty by Nature will headline, along with Jape, whose new album is released in September. Doves and Mercury Rev will also perform DJ sets over the weekend. There’s a mini-festival taking place in Meath this weekend, too, when the Le Chéile bandwagon rolls into town, bringing Sharon Shannon, Ryan Sheridan and Aslan into venues in Oldcastle, while rap superstar 50 Cent will headline a bill that includes Flo Rida, Shayne Ward and Wonderland, at Waterford Music Fest tomorrow.

There are also some high profile gigs in the capital this weekend. The legendary Morrissey plays two sold-out shows at Vicar Street tonight and tomorrow, while tickets remain on sale for Prince’s Malahide Castle gig tomorrow.
