Dublin's Dunk Murphy seems to be one of those creative types who simply hunkers down and does the business – no frills, no ego, no terrific claims or aims, just the will and the resolve to be busy and do good work. Coming less than 15 months after Friday Syndrome Vol 2, the third of what we hope will be a continuing series is yet another amalgam (across 18 tracks, exactly the same number on the preceding two albums) of galloping rhythms, hushed electronica and deft acoustic guitar playing. Skeleton Jet sets the overall tone (spirals of woozy melodies fused with body-blow beats), while tracks such as Piss into the Smash, Never Knew (featuring vocals by Si Schroeder), Settler's Debt and Dyson Body Blade highlight Murphy's intuitive grasp of sonic dynamics. countersunk.org
