Getting the jazz message across to children in a fun way is hampered by the fact that so much of the music is performed at times and in venues unsuitable for the younger generation. But tomorrow morning a series of interactive concerts will show one enjoyable way to deal with the problem.

The Jazz Rainbow Trio of internationally renowned musicians Jason Rebello (piano), David Whitford (bass) and Stephen Keogh (drums) will present a charming and witty reimagining of classic children’s tunes drawn from film and TV themes, along with original compositions and spontaneously improvised pieces. Quizzes and audience participation should add to the fun of the concerts, which comes courtesy of the Global Music Foundation’s Stardust Project.

The NCH also hosts the big band of the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, with guest singers Christine Tobin and Mary Coughlan, on Sunday night.
