Twisted Pepper, Dublin Tomorrow 10.30pm 15/12 01-8734800
It’s plain to see that Bodytonic has thrived since fetching up in the old Traffic digs on Middle Abbey Street three years ago. Aside from the club nights, the Twisted Pepper is also home to a record shop (Elastic Witch), bookshop (the Loft), cafe
(3FE) and barbershop (The Boxcutter). But it’s nights like this and the recent Beatyard weekender that really make the venue zing.
After an early show by European electronic royalty The Field and Walls, it’s the turn of Bodytonic’s marquee night Pogo to take the limelight with return visits from the excellent Joy Orbison and Floating Points (below).
Both acts packed the club on previous visits, so add in the birthday buzz (and a support cast that includes Pogo grand marshal Barry Redsettaz, the Quarter Inch Collective and 1930s swing and jazz from the Vertical Rhythm Joint) and you’ve the makings of a boss night out.
Can't see that? Catch this:Jamie Behan and Warren Knowles at Electronic Underground (Fri, Cork); 110th Street's 13th birthday party (Sat, Galway); and Luke Slater back in business as Planetary Assault Systems (Fri, Dublin)
