As has become the norm, the October bank holiday means one hell of a do in clubland before a bit of a pre-end- of-year lull in November. There’s a ton of DEAF happenings in the capital city with the welcome return of Modeselektor (below, Friday); a choice double bill with LA funkateer Dam-Funk and beatboxing futurist Beardyman (Friday); a Warp bash with Plaid, Bibio, Clark and Tim Exile (Sunday); and the Irish debut for Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems (Sunday).
On the birthday front, Belfast’s lush clubbing space the Stiff Kitten celebrates its fourth year on the go with Josh Wink, Phil Kiern and Miniminds (Saturday), while Galway’s Lowerstate turns two with Chymera joining resident Ruari to blow out the candles (Saturday).
Other highlights over the weekend include Hudson Mohawke toeing the B-Live line, trance veteran Judge Jules on the bench (both Sunday, Dublin), and French electro duo Mustard Pimp pulling up to the bumper (Saturday, Dublin).
