Four stalwarts of Dublin’s indie scene have teamed up for a music project with a difference.
Martin McCann, formerly the frontman of Sack, has enlisted Tony Barrett of The Brilliant Trees and Mark Healy, who has most recently played with Jerry Fish the Mudbug Club, to form Elevens. Completing the line-up is photographer Aidan Kelly of the Candy Collective, whose projections are intended to increase the impact in the live arena.
The marriage of music and visuals is nothing new, but McCann said that Kelly's photographic accounts of urban landscapes sit well with the music he's written with Elevens.
"My initial quest was to write some melodic acoustic songs and record them with Tony Barrett. The visual aspect more or less evolved seeing Aidan's work at a couple of ThisIsPopBaby events," he said, adding that their live show will involve "acoustic songs of love lost and found, with a few influential covers thrown in, and an interactive visual document to provoke or soothe the senses."
The band will release their EP
Tender to the Touchon April 22nd, and will launch it at their first headline gig in Dublin's Project Arts Centre the next day. They also play the Barretstown Inspirations gig tonight at the Olympia. elevensmusic.net
