Mis-Teeq to N-Dubz, AILBHE MALONEtracks 'em all
TRACK OF THE WEEK: SCANDALOUS BY MIS-TEEQ
On Twitter the other day, we mentioned how much we'd like to see a Mis-Teeq comeback. The response was overwhelming, and so, in tribute, we offer Mis-Teeq's Scandalous as track of the week. For the uninitiated, Mis-Teeq were an early Noughties all-girl trio, featuring among others, Alesha Dixon in MC-mode. Not only did they have some kicking tunes, they also represented a cross-section of British music at the time, mixing r'n'b with the garage underground. Younger readers, just think of Ms Frank from the X Factor, and you'll not go far wrong.
- Pop Cornersupposes it should comment on Ronan Keating splitting from his wife Yvonne, but is too upset by the news to say anything astute. We were slightly cheered to hear that Shane Lynch has been playing counsellor though. Apparently Lynch "has been particularly helpful to Ronan. He's been doing a lot of listening but isn't judging the situation at all". Evidently he says it best when he says nothing at all.
- It's nota good week for pop couples. Teen dreams Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato have called it quits. Serial heartbreaker Joe dumped Demi, in order to "save their friendship". Hmph. We've heard that one before. Their joint tour this summer is going to be awkward.
- Poor FisherpriceJT (aka Justin Bieber) – he's not the smartest kid on the block. First of all, he doesn't know that German is a language (www.tinyurl.com/jabitte) and then he becomes puzzled by a revolving-door (www.tinyurl.com/pushorpull). Perhaps all his mental efforts go into maintaining his perfect, side-sweeping fringe.
- N-DUBZ WATCH:We're pleased to report that N-Dubz are going Stateside! They've been signed to renowned label Def Jam in the US. With this news, it seems Dappy is turning over a new leaf. Quoth he: "I have regrets, but I'm putting the bad stuff behind me and I think I'm coming out a better person".
