TRACK OF THE WEEK
Last Ones Standingby Example. With a repeated synth riff that could well soundtrack a climactic moment in some kind of sporting competition (Pop Corner doesn't know where it's going with this comparison, the most exercise we ever get is musical chairs) Last Ones Standingis as summery as a melting Calippo, and just as sweet.
- It's been agreat week for pop. Not only is the wonderful Tulisa featured on the same page as Pop Corner (we were so excited we had to sit down in a dark room for a bit) but there's also talk of . . . deep breath . . . new Britney tracks. But not just yet. Responding to claims of new tracks leaking, Britney's manager stated that "The guys that ARE working on Brit's next album ARE NOT talking about it." Boo. Spoilsport.
- Jedward's gobsmacking mediatakeover continues. In a deal rumoured to be worth £30,000, the pair are to be the face of Rowntree's Randoms sweets. Not only that, but the Jedward clothing line is actually going to happen. Named Pop Icons, it will take inspiration from Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson. Say the duo: "We think everybody will love to wear stuff like that. Our clothes will have lots of bold colour and cool patterns." Terrifying.
- While the mediais buzzing over the news that Justin Bieber has agreed to write his autobiography, Pop Corner can reveal that bigger things are afoot. A source at Paramount Pictures says the rights have been bought to a 3D biopic of Bieber's life. They are looking for a new director, as Davis Guggenheim has pulled out. Who needs a book when you can have Bieber practically sitting next to you?
- In news thatwill surprise few, Joe McElderry came out as gay last week. Though it shouldn't be a big deal to proclaim your sexuality, we're still proud of young Joe. He released a statement saying: "Everything is going well and I'm really happy to be able to move forward from here."
You go, Joe.
