TRACK OF THE WEEK : Call My Name by Cheryl Cole

TRACK OF THE WEEK: Call My Name by Cheryl Cole. Chezza is back back back, with what has the potential to be the summer's biggest banger. Produced by one-man strobelight Calvin Harris, Call My Name has echoes of Calvin's work with Rihanna, with an icy Italo edge. What's most interesting is the restraint. While we're not in Jamie xx territory by any means, we'll add 10 points for forgeoing a dubstep breakdown. Well played, Cole. Well played.

Speaking of the tall Scot, it seems he’s just as human as the rest of us. Calvin’s admitted that though he’s friends with collaborator Rihanna on Twitter, he’s not exactly sure how to respond to her. He explained that “It depends what it is. Sometimes I can’t bring myself to respond because no response would be good enough and sometimes I just pretend I haven’t seen it.” No judgement, C-Hizzle.

Nicki Minaj has finally illuminated the roots of her obsession with the colour pink. Speaking to the Sun, she declared, “when I was younger I didn’t have much financially, like we couldn’t afford a lot of stuff and I remember seeing little girls’ rooms on TV and they’d all be pink. I didn’t have my own room, I shared with my brother, so I would have this daydream and imagine that one day I could have my own room and it would all be pink, like Cinderella’s. So I guess pink takes me back to that time and it just feels euphoric when I wear it. I love it.”

Elly from La Roux has been brewing up a storm online, while recording material for her new album. “‘Call me maybe’– is that a lyric? I can’t tell who anyone on the radio Is anymore, it’s just noise. Sorry, but where has all the music gone? I am perfectly aware I will be slated for saying that but I’m genuinely worried for music,” she tweeted. We have no time for Carly Rae Jepsen-haters (we’d track-of-the-week Call Me Maybe every week if we could), so Elly best step aside.
