AILBHE MALONEcan't get over the abs on those mums
TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Change Your Life by Little Mix
The newest single from Perrie and Co is in keeping with their general theme of self-belief and courage and all the rest of it. The lyrics echo TLC’s Unpretty, in a vague way, and the hook of “change, change your life” will remain in your head for longer than it ought to. It’s not as immediately impactful as Wings or even DNA, but by the third listen, you’ll be trying to copy Jesy’s soulful alto.
Pink sounds like the scariest personal trainer ever. Speaking about how she got her impressive stomach muscles back after an emergency c-section, she explained: “All the stuff I do is core-based work out. All the acrobatics, all the silks and stunts I do on tour mean I need to be strong. If you want sick abs you need to hang upside down by your feet and do sit ups. You have to. And you can’t cut corners.”
Not that she cared about that while she was pregnant . “I used to eat entire buckets of chicken wings and once I ate an entire cheesecake in one sitting. I’m terrible when it comes to food. I’m the kind of girl who says she’s not going to eat bread and then I eat an entire loaf.”
Meanwhile, at the other end of the celebrity mum scale, Gwen Stefani found herself exhausted this year. She told Marie Claire: “I would be up all night because my second baby didn’t sleep, and he had a lot of ear infections. Then I’d wake up in the morning and do my workout, which I always felt I had to do, and then meetings for my three clothing lines, and then hang out with my kids, take them to preschool - da, da, da.” In then end, it meant that she had to time the workout. “I think my body just needed a break. And so I did that and focused more on feeling good as opposed to beating myself up.”
Take care of yourself, Gwen!
