About 15 years ago, you couldn't tune into an Irish radio station without hearing a clatter of songs from Dublin pop/rock band PictureHouse – notably their songs Sunburst and Heavenly Day – which were national hits when that actually meant something. Missing in action for almost 10 years, the band – still fronted by primary songwriter/member Dave Browne – returns with yet another album, loaded with songs that the likes of Neil Finn would proudly call his own. Therein lies the rub, however: deciding not to tamper with a winning formula is all well and good, but when it's been more than a decade since your previous high-profile outing will your original fans still be around? Such things might not bother the fans (fervent or fairweather) of this smoothly-honed pop sextet – but they should certainly concern the band. picturehouse.ie
