It’s rare that a band like this has snuck up so unawares on the public. Of course, your pop/punk/emo-loving teenager had heard of them ages ago, but, as surely as 15-year-olds sulk in their rooms, they weren’t telling anyone untilthe Tennessee quintet started selling albums in the millions. The commercial ruckus began with 2007’s Riot! (their second album, following 2005’s All We Know Is Falling).

Helped in part by the fact that lead singer Hayley Williams is a role model for female fans and an object of desire for males, Paramore have continued to cut a swathe through charts and countries. Another factor in their success was the hook-up with the Twilight movie franchise, which brought on board even more fervent teens.

So, expect hormones a-go-go and cheery punk/pop with a vaguely Gothic hue. Oh, and black clothes. Lots of black clothes.
