The last time violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis (above) played together in Ireland was at Kilkenny Arts Festival in 1992, when they gave a programme of piano trios with Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen. They’re back together again at the National Concert Hall for one of the starriest Irish performances

in decades, of Brahms’s Double Concerto for violin and cello. They’re appearing with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, making a much-belated NCH debut, and the programme, conducted by Ian Brown, also includes symphonies by Haydn (No 13) and Mendelssohn (the Italian).
