The first anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death is being marked today by events around the globe, and Dublin is no different.
Those wishing to remember the pop superstar may be interested in seeing impersonator Anthony Walker perform some of Jackson's most famous dance routines and songs in the concert-style Man in the Mirrorshow, which is at Dublin's Olympia tonight and tomorrow.
A group of fans in Dublin, led by Sharon O’Rourke, are also planning to release a number of heart-shaped helium balloons at Custom House Quay at 5pm today. O’Rourke, a Jackson fan for 22 years, said the Dublin event would coincide with a similar one at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Elsewhere, a tribute plaque will be unveiled in London, a zombie-themed Thriller Night will take place in Melbourne, and various other weird and wacky commemorations of the singer’s life will be held in all four corners.
