If ghouls and ghosts aren’t your bag this October bank holiday weekend, perhaps a trip to the Rebel County for some blue notes beforehand will calm your nerves. The full programme for the 32nd Guinness Jazz Festival (October 21st to 25th) has just been announced.

Jazz great Herbie Hancock will headline the multi-venue event. He's joined by The Brand New Heavies, renowned saxophonist Maceo Parker (who has played with James Brown, Parliament and Funkadelic during his illustrious career), Steve Winwood, The Robert Glasper Experiment, The Jive Aces and The Neil Cowey Trio.

Most of the performances – those on the Guinness Music Trail – will be free. Acts on the trail (a series of pubs around the city) aren't necessarily jazz-oriented, either, and include hard rockers Therapy?, Director, Pete Molinari, Natty Wailer and even Amy Winehouse's dad, Mitch Winehouse, and his band. There'll be a number of outdoor stages, too – so keep your fingers crossed for some good October weather. corkjazzfestival.com
