Forbidden Fruit will not suffer from the teething problems that led many to complain about long queues at last years inaugural festival, booker Declan Forde tells The Ticket.
“What happened with the bar queues on the Saturday afternoon last year was obviously not acceptable, and is an embarrassment to us,” he admits. “It was basically an engineering issue with the bars themselves, but the buck stops with us. We’ll dot our I’s and cross our T’s this year to make sure there’s no repeat; we’re very aware that people won’t forgive twice.”
The non-camping festival, which has been expanded to three days, will take place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital/Imma, Kilmainham from June 2nd to 4th. Acts booked for the five-stage event include New Order, Modeselektor, Death Cab for Cutie, Beirut, Leftfield, Andrew Bird, Wilco and The Rapture. There will also be a new comedy stage.
Forbidden Fruit takes place on the same weekend that many Irish music fans traditionally travel to Spain for the Primavera Sound Festival, Forde claims this isn’t an issue. “The actual number of Irish people who go to Primavera is nowhere near as substantial as you’d believe if you based it on online feedback.
