Elastic Witch casts a spell

MUSIC NEWS: Dublin’s newest record store is celebrating a month in business with a bang on Thursday

MUSIC NEWS:Dublin's newest record store is celebrating a month in business with a bang on Thursday. In response to their successful start-up, Elastic Witch, which is situated in the Twisted Pepper building on Abbey Street, will host an in-store gig featuring several up-and-coming Irish acts and DJs. Tieranniesaur, Bantum and Magic Pockets are already on the bill, with more acts and DJs to be announced.

The store is run by promoter Bodytonic and local musician Gib Cassidy, who double-jobs as drummer in local band Logikparty and worked in Road Records until its closure last year. He described business as "ticking over nicely".

"There was a really positive buzz online when I announced the opening, and hopefully some of that positivity has turned into a few sales too," he said.

Elastic Witch's emphasis on supporting independent and underground Irish music dictated the line-up for next week's gig, as well as "the diversity of the shop". An official website launch is planned as well as other in-store events over the coming months.
