Johnny Depp has added his guitar-playing talents to a new Shane MacGowan- arranged charity single.

I Put A Spell On You, a cover of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins classic, previously covered by the likes of Nina Simone and Tom Waits, was chosen by MacGowan as the song to raise funds for Concern's ongoing relief work for Haiti.

“I’ve always felt that there was a spiritual connection between Ireland and Haiti,” he told The Ticket. “It was one of the first Caribbean islands to fight for independence and St Patrick is one of their best-loved saints.”

The Pogues frontman has assembled an impressive group of musicians including Nick Cave, Chrissie Hynde, Bobby Gillespie, Paloma Faith and Mick Jones for the single. Depp, a friend of MacGowan’s since the early 1990s, recorded his guitar part just last week. The song was recorded in London several weeks ago, and will be released as an iTunes download on March 8th.
