The irrepressible New Yorker Joanie Madden and her band, Cherish The Ladies, will have the pleasure of cracking open the bubbly to mark the first in a shiny new weekly traditional music session called The Liffey Banks Sessions on Tuesday next. Currently celebrating a quarter of a century on the road, Cherish The Ladies have recently released a stormer of a CD recorded in Nashville, called

Country Crossroads

. For company on that CD, they invited Nanci Griffith, Maura O’Connell, Vince Gill, Alison Brown and others to join them on their odyssey south of the Mason Dixon line. Madden is fresh from a hectic sojourn at the Cavan Fleadh, so it’s likely that the band’s repertoire will have been further embellished with a raft of new tunes in recent weeks. Watch out for more canny headliners, queuing up to take the stage in a venue ideally suited to high-octane performances.
