On Tuesday, The Irish Timespublished best-of-the-Noughties lists of albums and movies. And the blogs went wild ...
ALBUM COMMENTS
Cathy Davey?! Come off it chaps. – Thomas
Funny, I was thinking of giving away my Fleet Foxes album to charity. Better hold on to it now. It is the 5th best album of the decade, after all. – David
Great to see Brendan Benson in there ... That album was one of the most underrated of the decade. – Lutin
Decent list but some obvious omissions (imo) are: Kid A; Sound of Silver or LCD Soundsystem. – Mar
Not even one token rap album? The least funky decade in the history of man, if this list is anything to go. – Tormentor
Really interesting list. Kid A would top my personal list, but each to their own. Was really pleased to see Gillian Welch there though. – Phil
The combined voting means that the interesting choices from each of the judges just disappear. By having a combined top 20 it only shows the narrow common ground between the three of you, rather than the breadth of your combined experience. – Philth
I cannot believe that your top 20 of the decade does not correspond exactly to my own personal and subjective choice of what I enjoyed over those years. Worst… List… Ever. – Sean B
Good call on the Avalanches - A lot of other lists have omitted it. – LiamK
Am I the only one who finds of end of year lists excruciatingly dull? – Loyola
FILM COMMENTS
Another typical hitlist from a film buff. So eager to fit in his favourite alternatives that he has left out many of the films that really mattered in this past decade. What, is Harry Potter not good enough for you? – Clinical Cynic
A History of Violenceis the most over rated, wooden acted, self-indulgent piece of cinema ever. Agree with you on No Country… probably Coens' most overhyped film because the last 30 min were meaningless and unneeded.. – Mylie
MY ZERO CENTS: There Will Be Bloodis the most overrated film of this or any decade. The plot is paper thin, the action plods, his accent is quite ridiculous and many of the "key scenes" seem improvised. I think folk are just infatuated with the great Day-Lewis hamming (yes) it up so. – Emperor Zero
For me, United 93was the movie of, and for the decade. – Declan Cashin
Um, you crazy jellyfish - where is The Lives Of Others? – Anton Chigurh
Wall-E. Why was everyone so impressed? I usually agree with D Clarke's taste and find him insightful and extremely entertaining but I think the Pixar love-in has to end. – Euge
