For the past several years, Birr songwriter Roesy has straddled both music and art, and if he's making a living at selling vast amounts of each, then we have yet to hear it shouted from the rooftops. He is, then, still something of an underground act, but underground doesn't necessarily mean inaccessible, as can be discerned from his fifth studio album. Now residing in Amsterdam (following stints in North and South America, and Asia), Roesy is clearly pitching Fableat those who cherish sturdily structured songs and grounded musings over the kind of wishy-washy stuff that occasionally passes itself off as singer-songwriter du jour material. He remains

a valuable if underrated songwriter, then, yet one who will likely continue to be so if he doesn't reign in his apparent restlessness. For all that, though, Fableis a career highlight: focused, cohesively thematic and strong-minded. See roesy.net
