For those who assume that Horslips' palette stretched no further than Dearg Doomand Trouble(with a capital "T"), this double-CD compendium blows all preconceptions clean out of the water. 2009 saw their first major live gigs in nearly three decades, and a trawl through this Best Of ably illustrates the band's inventive and fearless spirit in full flow. Who else would have taken the genteel Northumbrian Flower Among Them Alland lined it up alongside the contemporary More Than You Can Chew? Witty and erudite sleeve notes colour in the gaps between the songs, while a newly-minted live acoustic version of Dearg Doombookends a collection that may well send new converts scuttling back to the original catalogue.
