This collection has emerged with little fanfare. Irish-American band Solas provides the backbone of the trio, with box player Mick McAuley and American fiddler Winifred Horan propelling the tunes. Caladh Nua’s Colm Ó Caoimh adds solid guitar and lead vocals. It’s the cross-currents that inform this collection that set it apart: from the klezmer-tinged opener, Les Amantes Infideles (where Horan’s fiddle features), to the funky jig set Fiona’s Jigs.

McAuley's and Horan's compositional skills take full flight, and there's an originality at play. Underscoring this fine collection is a hunger for new horizons.
