To date, Antoine Hilare and Flo Lyonnet's second best career move was to swap their turntables for guitars. (The best thing, by the way, was to change their name from Poney Poney). As Jamaica, the duo have headed for those faraway soft-rock hills last mounted in in the 1970s. Yes, there are solos, riffs and spandex galore on No Problem(produced by Justice's Xavier de Rosnay and Peter Franco). But there are also fabulously glitzy, high-sheen pop melodies and effortlessly cool tunes that sound good coming from the radio or a stadium stage. For all the slighly arch post-modern attempts to channel Van Halen, songs such as I Think I Like U 2and Cross the Faderfind Jamaica developing a more pleasing sort of kicking, cranked-up momentum. Phoenix aren't the only chic Parisians looking back to the future. See myspace.com/ithink ilikejamaica
