Do you want another ride in Hawkwind's slightly rickety silver machine? Here's a three-CD trip through the original spaced-out space rockers' defining era, from their formation, in 1969, to their 1974 album, Hall of the Mountain Grill.Hawkwind's influence reaches as far as Spiritualized and Ozric Tentacles, and this collection includes tracks from their noodly, psychedelic self-titled debut album, their classic jazz-prog freak-out, In Search of Space, and their multimedia live extravaganza, Space Ritual(featuring the naked onstage dancer Stacia). The original of their hit Silver Machineis here in all its poptastic glory, along with the requisite alternate (ie longer and noodlier) versions of album tracks, and unreleased nuggets. Though there's lots here worth jettisoning, there's plenty of mind-blowing stuff too. See hawkwind.com
