Four Tet

Kieran Hebden's ears have always been tuned to many different sources. His releases over the past decade, be it as Four Tet or much earlier with Fridge, are an exercise in how flights of idiosyncratic imagination can lead to many places, and to collaborations with the likes of Burial, Steve Reid and Thom Yorke. But Hebden still has a fever for the dancefloor, as seen by the tunes on Pink, a digital-only compilation of recent 12-inch releases, or 2010's gloriously euphoric There Is Love in You album. The electronic tones and sleek textures here are the work of a producer who knows there are plenty of untapped ways for a DJ to tease and tantalise the dancefloor. Be it the tough, driving house contours of Pyramid, the hypnotic groove of Pinnacles or the sweet interplay between harp and garage momentum on 128 Harps, Hebden sounds like he's having a whale of a time. fourtet.net
