Manitoba, Caribou and Daphni are the various alter-egos that Dan Snaith has employed to transmit his lush, organic electronic grooves to the world. Compared with the recent run of Caribou releases – which certainly upped his profile going on the success of the Swim album – Snaith is aiming for a much more hedonistic house and techno trip on Jiaolong. It's the work of a producer keen to show he can deconstruct, recast and rebuild tunes for dark, sweaty dancefloors – and that he enjoys the abandon and escape of those moments as much as anyone else. Tracks such as the boisterous Yes I Know, the well-sprung house bounce of Springs and the idiosyncratic spread of sounds influencing how Light progresses are a joy to behold.
