The Swedish singer-songwriter occupies a sonic territory similar to that of another Swedish maverick, Stina Nordenstam. Each has a proclivity for invading the most silent spaces and creating their own special kind of snow-soft sound. While Nordenstam has embraced a kind of muted jazz/ambient, Brun has drifted from her traditionalist singer-songwriter stance (her 2005 album, A Temporary Dive, is as good as they come) into an impressionistic area where the tempo is low-key and the words are as important as the music.
