A clubbing event aimed at deaf and hard-of-hearing people might sound more than a little strange, but that’s exactly what Sencity is.

The travelling musical roadshow hits the RDS, Dublin on February 9th. Originating in Holland 10 years ago, the show offers punters the chance to experience music in ways other than the traditional manner.

To that end, there’ll be “aroma jockeys” translating the music on display, as well as visual artists and video DJs, make-up artists, sign dancers, light artists, and perhaps most impressively, a vibrating dancefloor – giving clubbers the chance to stimulate all five senses at once.

There will be live performances, too, however. Deaf Finnish rapper Signmark, who translates his rhymes into sign language, is on the bill, alongside Irish band Kormac’s Big Band, The Wonder Villains from Derry, Dublin DJ Gavxmas and the six-piece drumming group from Waterford, Torann Drummers.
