For some Morrissey is past-his-sell-by-date, a figure of camp fun; for many others, more than 25 years on from The Smiths (probably the defining band of 1980s Britain), he demonstrates perfectly how rock stars can grow into middle age gracefully, maintaining the intelligence and panache of their salad days.
More prolific now than ever, he's returning to the auld sod to perform tracks from his recently released album, Years of Refusal. Unusually, there is no Dublin date, but if you miss these gigs in the west, don't forget that next week the Master of Chortling Melancholy plays two Northern Irish dates – the Leisure Centre in Omagh on Friday May 1st, and Belfast's Waterfront Hall on May 2nd. Special guests on all dates are Doll the Kicks.
