As the Meteor Music Awards draw ever closer, fans are reminded that the deadline to vote for their favourite acts is almost up. As previously reported, the ceremony takes place on March 17th at Dublin’s RDS, and will be presented by Amanda Byram.
The public will decide the outcome of eight categories via the official Meteor website or by text. The categories open to voting are Best Irish Band, Best Irish Female, Best Irish Male, Best Irish Pop Act, Best Irish Live Performance, Best Irish Album, Best National DJ and Best Regional DJ. The “Hope for 2009” award will also be chosen by the public.
Leading the nominations with three nods apiece are The Blizzards, The Script, Fight Like Apes, Coldplay, The Killers and Kings of Leon.
Already confirmed to perform on the night is Sharon Shannon, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and sing her No 1 hit Galway Girlwith Mundy.
The RDS stage will also play host to performances by Elbow, Stereophonics, Imelda May, Boyzone, The Blizzards, James Morrison, Duke Special and Enrique Iglesias.
