HERMAN Wilkinson conducted a successful antiques sale at their Rathmines rooms last week, with sales totalling £85,000. The top selling lot was a rare set of three late 18th century walnut and parcel gilt stools, which sold for £6,600.

A Georgian mahogany circular snap top table, stamped "Gillingtons," made £3,000 against a top catalogue estimate of £1,250; a set of 12 early Victorian dining chairs, upholstered in button back leather, sold for £2,800, while a second set of 12 mahogany dining chairs sold for £2,100.

A pair of 19th century concave bookcases with glazed doors sold for £1,400, well below the top estimate of £5,000. A Georgian mahogany, rectangular library table made £1,500, an Edwardian mahogany and satinwood bow front corner display cabinet sold for £1,350, and an Edwardian sheraton style rectangular extending diningtable made £920; a William IV mahogany rectangular partners' writing table sold well over estimate for £800 and an Edwardian mahogany and satinwood music cabinet, with drawers and a glazed door, also made £800.
