NEXT Friday's sale of silver at Phillips on Bond Street, London, contains a number of items with Irish interest, not least a George Ill hot water jug.
Dating from 1788 and made by Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp, this has a hexagonal vase shaped body, reeded borders and a reeded loop handle with its lower body part fluted and resting on a six sided pedestal foot. The estimate is £1,000-1,300 sterling.
A George III teapot by Carden Terry and Jane Williams from Cork is dated 1810, its panelled oblong form topped with a domed cover and wrigglework border (estimate £1,500-2,000 sterling).
The sale includes a considerable number of 18th and early 19th century Irish silver spoons in this auction. These include a pair of George III tablespoons by John Toleken of Cork, circa 1810 (£170-200) and a George III marrow scoop by James Douglas of, Dublin, circa 1765 (£180-220).
