This English Victorian silver tankard was made by Robert Hennel of London in 1865. Evidently designed for post-shooting parties, it features a design of interwoven leaves around medallions of hung birds; a hunting dog crouches on top of the tankard's lid.
Nine-and-a-half inches tall and weighing 35 ounces, the item features in tomorrow's antiques fair at Clontarf Castle, Dublin. This is just one example of the range of silver pieces which will be on offer at the event.
Also for sale is a pair of loving cups by Matthew West of Dublin, dating from 1774, and a silver tea service by Paul Storr. The fair runs from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
