After weeks of giving space to overseas mail order companies, it is a pleasure to mention an Irish business

After weeks of giving space to overseas mail order companies, it is a pleasure to mention an Irish business. Grimes & Co has been around for a few seasons and its steady expansion is witness to the Irish market's enthusiasm for the company's range of mostly-household goods. Now Grimes & Co is setting up its own website for online shopping which will include some special, limited-time sales - often of popular products - available to web browsers only. The website is www.grimesco.ie but for the less technologically advanced, there is still a telephone number to ring for catalogues and information: 01-6675627

While we remain unconvinced that children's "fashion" either does or should exist, a new shop in Shankill, Co Dublin offering clothes for the pre- and early teens caught our attention. Despite its name, Canada House carries designs from Barcelona, which is becoming something of a centre for well-made, inexpensive clothing. T-shirts start at £8 and two-piece outfits at £20 and there is a wide range of different collections within the range.

EVERYONE'S a winner, or at least that's the idea behind a chequebook and card scheme which made its debut last week. Win/Win is described as being "a discount programme for women" by James Lenehan, who set up the company but he is unlikely to exclude any members of his own sex who want to participate. Basically, participating businesses (hotels, restaurants, shops) will offer discounts of between 10 and 40 per cent to anyone using a Win/Win cheque to pay for goods and services. Call 1850-354555 for information and membership.

IF you are in London later this week, you may wish to call by the BBC Fashion Week Live which runs from Thursday to Sunday at the Wembley Conference Centre and Arena. There will be fashion shows, beauty advice, a search for new model faces, plus opportunities for makeup and hair make-overs. Admission is £15, with proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation.
