Meet the boss. Robert Fitzgerald Diggs is the producer who transformed the chaos and madness of the Wu-Tang Clan into some hugely enduring hip-hop albums. While there has been some patchy fare under the monicker (and by individual Clan members) since Enter the Wu-Tang(36 Chambers) dropped in 1993, RZA's stinging productions have always been noteworthy. No one else can work such sonic alchemy on dense, claustrophobic grooves or strung-out samples as RZA at his best.
Away from the Wu, RZA has turned out a couple of solo albums, some releases under his Bobby Digital alter ego, and turned his hand to scoring movies. (His work on Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dogis well worth checking out.)
This live show is part of his tour to plug a new book, The Tao of Wu, on "the lessons he's learned on the journey from the Staten Island projects to international superstardom".
