'We are adults," Paula (Simone Kirby) admonishes herself. But that doesn't mean our actions and motivations have progressed since we left the sandpit. Douglas Rankine, Yasmine Akram and John Finegan complete the cast of four to portray the petty, backbiting yet strangely sympathetic microcosm of the office. The play combines video elements and sensitive acting to uncover the facade of maturity that never fully masks our childhood insecurities. Thanks to a clever script by Irma Grothuis and discerning direction by Darren Thornton, the acting slips smoothly from adult to child and back to portray the many-layered composition of social interaction. Though handling events that are at times tragic and grim, the actors bring light and levity to the silly, childish game of living.
