Auction houses in the North continue to attract good numbers of both trade and private buyers from the South, and this was the case last Monday evening at Wilson's Auctions in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

The contents of a Methodist manse in Donaghdee, Co Antrim, formed the core of the sale's contents.

The top selling lot was a Georgian Irish side table with fretwork detailing on its square legs. It sold for £3,700.

In the same sale an Edwardian inlaid seven piece parlour suite made £1,500; a feathered mahogany two door bookcase fetched £1,200; and a second Victorian mahogany bookcase, this one with attractive Gothic style doors, sold for £800.
