HAMILTON Osborne King's auction of lithe contents of Carrigacunna Castle in Mallow is a well balanced mix of 17th, 18th and 19th century furniture, with a good selection of silver and porcelain attracting interest from European buyers.
Carrigacunna is owned by antiques dealer Linda Walsh, who specialises in jewellery from her premises in Kinsale. The castle photographed on the catalogue is actually disused. The furnishings come from an adjoining house, which dates from the 19th century.
Among the best lots is an impressive mahogany pedestal desk dating from 1830, which has a top estimate of £8,000; and an early 19th century mahogany bookcase, which is valued at £4,000-£6,000. Of the more ornate lots, a French style walnut, kingwood and marquetry centre table is estimated at £3,000-£5,000.
Viewing begins tomorrow, from 2 p.m.6 p.m.
