Dealers offer toy trains and lead soldiers

The Dublin toy and train fair is being held tomorrow at the Rochestown Lodge Hotel in Dun Laoghaire from 11 a.m. Two rooms have been set aside for the event, with more than 65 tables and 43 dealers from Ireland, North and South, Britain and the US.

Among the collectable toys on offer will be diecast models by Corgi and Dinky, Meccano and Bayko construction sets, lead soldiers by Britains and Crescent, plus Hornby, Triang, Trix and Marklin trains. In addition, the fair's dealers will be bringing antique dolls, teddy bears, McDonalds toys, comics, film annuals and well-known manufacturers' books and catalogues. The winter fair will be held at the same venue on Sunday, November 29th.

Lest there be any confusion arising from last Saturday's page, the National Book Fair taking place tomorrow is at the RDS in Dublin but it will return next month to its more usual venue, the Masonic Hall on Molesworth Street. According to the fair's organiser, "a further fair will be held later in the year at the RDS venue."

45 dealers to sell pre-1940 items

AN antiques and collectors fair is being held today at the Doyle Tara Towers Hotel in Dublin from 10 a.m. There will be 45 stands with most of the assorted items for sale dating from pre-1940.
