Cork

Celebrations from noon will include a carnival on Patrick Street, live concert in Emmet Place and an illuminations ceremony on at least four of city's bridges. A group of 2,000 Corkonians will light torches on the banks of the Lee for the last light ceremony at 4.33 p.m. Cara O'Sullivan will headline a classical concert at the City Hall. Fireworks display at midnight.

Dublin

An open-air concert will take place in Merrion Square from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring musical acts Divine Comedy, David Gray, Donal Lunny, Brian Kennedy and Sharon Shannon. The last light ceremony will be presided over by the Taoiseach at 4.16 p.m. At 6 p.m. 13 bridges in the city will be permanently illuminated. From 10 p.m. fireworks will be set off every 15 minutes in the South Bull Wall area, culminating with a millennium firework display at midnight. Midnight ringing of Christ Church Cathedral bells.

Galway

Family street party in city centre between 36 p.m. Lantern procession of children organised by Macnas leading to last light ceremony at 4.28 p.m. Fireworks display at 5.30 p.m.

Kilkenny

Last light ceremony in Callan and in the city. All church bells will ring out at midnight.

Leitrim

In Keshcarrigan, a pageant will proceed through the village culminating with a last light ceremony featuring the oldest and youngest members of the community.

Limerick

Celebrations include laser show and fireworks display overlooking the River Shannon. Last light ceremony 4.29 p.m.

Monaghan

All-night millennium event - restoration revelry - at Castle Leslie to raise funds for the refurbishment of the castle.

Sligo

New Year's Eve party and fireworks planned for the grounds of Ballymote Castle. Music, prayer readings and sound and light performance also planned for Sligo Abbey at 3 p.m.

Tipperary

Street party and concerts from 3 p.m. in Tipperary town. Lantern parade in Terryglass at 8 p.m.

Waterford

All-day street party on the theme of Waterford past, present and future will be held on the quays to include a choir of 1,000, street theatre and a beat on the street.

Wexford

Last light ceremonies to be held at around 4 p.m. in Enniscorthy, Gorey, New Ross and Wexford.
