A FINE white marble chimneypiece from Shambally Castle in Co Tipperary will be the star item at Uppercourt Manor Antiques's auction tomorrow at Upper Court Manor in Freshford, Co Kilkenny.
The castle was designed by John Nash in the 1820s and it is thought that the chimneypiece dates from this era. It is estimated at £5,000-£7,000. The sale will include a good selection of Georgian and Victorian furniture, and delivery will be free for purchasers, no mean incentive in these days of escalating carriage costs. Viewing is today until 7 p.m. and tomorrow morning. The sale begins at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow.
