Everyone has had fun speculating about casting possibilities for Martin Scorsese’s long-gestated biopic of Frank Sinatra.

DiCaprio? Depp? Tina Sinatra, the singer’s protective daughter, is claimed to have favoured a cosy version starring George Clooney. Scorsese has, however, declared his firm intention to do it his way (get it?). In a recent interview, Marty announced that he wanted Al Pacino for the role of the older Sinatra. “We can’t go through the greatest hits of Sinatra’s life,” Scorsese said. We tried this already. Just can’t do it. So the other way to go is to have three or four different Sinatras. Younger. Older. Middle-aged. Very old. You cut back and forth in time – and you do it through the music. See what I’m saying? So that’s what we’re trying for. It’s very tricky.”
