The next creatures to get the 3D treatment look set to be those venerable ambulatory plants the Triffids. Don Murphy, one of the producers of the Transformersseries, has announced to the world that he will adapt John Wyndham's classic 1951 novel The Day of the Triffids, previously filmed in 1962 and (most unsatisfactorily) for the BBC in 2009.
"This original classic has still to be successfully envisioned on the screen," Murpny said. "It is a story that strikes at the heart of what it means to be human – and does so in an intensely cinematic way. We are confident that with the new
technological advances in 3D production, we have the tools with which to create Wyndham's iconic vision of
Armageddon." Well, if you say so.
