You knew it had to happen. Decent parents, taking a lead from Helen Lovejoy of The Simpsons, have glanced at the certificate awarded to The Hunger Games and asked: “Won’t someone please think of the children?” The Daily Mail, the voice of the outraged, has run a story suggesting that the British Board of Film Classification’s decision to grant a 12A cert to the hit film has angered parents. The reporting involved a trawl of comments on Mumsnet and Twitter. Sure enough, some parents have questioned the BBFC’s leniency.
The paper has yet to produce a single traumatised child.
