A diamond solitaire ring of one-and-a-half carats sold by O'Reilly's of Dublin for £1,200 in December 1978 recently fetched £2,500 in the same salerooms. An emerald and diamond cluster ring went for £4,000, a ruby and diamond three-stone ring fetched £5,000, an English George II coffee pot made £500 and a set of silver, bright-cut asparagus tongs made by B. Tait of Dublin around 1790 was sold for £450.
