Now Athens-based, but emigrating aged six from the island of Lesvos, Ms Georgiadis arrived in New York and found the city's citizens unable to cope with the "thelta" in her Greek forename, meaning Hope. So she playfully settled for Elvis as a universal replacement.
But there are few clues to all this history in her series of small water-soluble crayon and ink works on paper at the Fenderesky. In essence these are organic works, looking at first glance from a far distance as strong and vigorously coloured observations on nature's detail, seen in scientific section.
Studies, perhaps, from an arcane work on the kernels and nutshells of a lush and distant island paradise? But this is a deception for, close up, these elegant devices set out to capture the essence and warm vigour of all growth, of fruits, of marine creatures, and of the joy of nature's colours.
Runs until January 30th.
