ACCORDING to the programme, the town of Dundalk will move to the beat of ethnic, traditional, roots and fusion music from (nearly) every corner of the globe over the weekend. A slight exaggeration perhaps, but the line up for the first world music festival in the town is impressive nonetheless.
The Andean group, Chaski Inkas, begins the party with a performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Market Square. The popular Dublin Juju club, moves to Dundalk for Saturday night. The Armagh Rhymers will be in the Market Square at 2 p.m. on Sunday followed by the Tallafornia Mandolin Band. Other performers include Loyko, La Lugh and Khanda. Instrument and dance workshops on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
