Irish director Stephen Bradley completes shooting today on Boy Eats Girl, which has been filming on the Isle of Man after three weeks of shooting in and around Dublin. Bradley's second feature film, after 1998's Sweety Barrett, relates the darkly comic horror tale of a date that goes disastrously wrong, bringing bloody mayhem to suburbia.
Scripted by Derek Landy (Dead Bodies), Boy Eats Girl features Samantha Mumba as the object of affection for a Dublin teen (David Leon), who dies on the night he plans to declare his love for her. Fortunately, his mother (Deirdre O'Kane) succeeds in bringing him back to life, but he has changed quite significantly - he has no pulse, he cannot feel pain and he harbours an urge to eat human flesh.
Funding for Boy Eats Girl came from the Irish Film Board, Isle of Man Film Ltd, Bank of Ireland, Section 481 investment and international distributors. The producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Films.
